Visiting Roundwood:

Ahh Roundwood. A jewel of a place to live or visit. With so many fantastic eateries and such breathtaking beauty all around it is truly one of Wicklows’ most desired home locations.

The fabulous Lough Dan is a lovely tree lined lake which is awkward to get down to but if your careful , wearing wellies and in company – experienced walkers best, you can traverse the marshland surrounding it and leap about on the unusual sandy cove by the lake once you get there! Well, that’s’ what we did!

Roundwood is a popular hub for walkers of the Wicklow way trail (see www.wicklowway.com for detailed routes and maps ) and cyclists especially throughout the summer season.

There is a thriving social scene here with traditional music in the pubs and good old Irish Stew served in the restaurants that line the main street.

Roundwood is an ideal base for touring co Wicklow with Glendalough but a stones throw away and many amenities close by such as horse riding and paintball.

The excellent Roundwood Golf Club is situated nearby and you can visit their excellent website here at www.roundwoodgolf.com .

Roundwood boasts many clubs and social groups including ICA (country womens association), avonmore gun club, soccer team, drama group, variety group, badminton club, hillwalking group and gaa club.

For details on any of these clubs you can contact by email: davec@roundwood-in-ireland who runs their local website www.roundwood.ie whereupon he will be able to point you in the right direction with whom to contact.

Annamoe trout farm is situated close by where you can enjoy an afternoons fishing on its 4 acre lake. There is a junior bait fishing pond also and adventure play areas. See their website by clicking here >>>
