Historic Houses in Wicklow

Powerscourt house and Gardens

One of the world's great gardens situated 20km south of Dublin in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. The word garden belies the magnitude of this creation which stretches out over 47 acres.

The house is now home to the best of Irish design in gifts, clothes, and furniture in the Avoca Stores and the Interiors Gallery.

You can also treat yourself to a dish from the Avoca Cookbook in the Terrace Cafe.

Russborough House Wicklow:

The beautifully maintained Palladian architecture that is Russborough House is open to the public and boasts a fine collection of paintings some of which have had adventures of being stolen and recovered over the past number of years! For opening times contact them at tel: +353 (0) 45 865239

Mount Usher Gardens

Mount Usher gardens in Ashford Co Wicklow,  feature in the annual gardens of Ireland festival held every May.

These gardens are a lovely day out as they cover over 20 acres of flowers, trees, shrubs and lawns laid out along the river vartry where ‘gruff-look’ ( as I call him) the heron likes to fish.

Also to be found at mount usher gardens is a selection of craft shops selling pottery, old pine furniture, saddlery and assorted gifts in the courtyard.
